Kim's "Land's End to John O'Groats" adventure

My name is Kim Churton and I am a 26 year old Speech-Language Therapist from New Zealand, currently living in London.. I will be attempting to cycle solo from Lands End at the bottom of Britain to John O'Groats at the top. I will be hoping to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support along the way.

Where I should be heading..

Well, apparently this is the general route I will be taking. I expect to be getting lost a fair bit along the way, so the line is likely to end up much more wiggly than this. I have a general route planned but may be adapting it depending on conditions and how well I'm coping with the distance each day...

Deciding to go for a ride..

Well.... sometimes silly ideas pop up when you least expect them and this is a perfect example.

I realised that I had a few spare weeks after finishing my last job and with no definate prospects lined up my mind started thinking about good things to fill in time. The sensible option would be to hang out in London while my husband Paul is still working and make the most of it i.e shopping, museums, sight seeing etc. But this can often be a very costly bunch of activites and the novelty wears off quickly. So opton 'B' was to head off on my own with my bike.

One thing lead to another and I discovered a really neat sounding bike ride that starts at the bottom of Britain at "Lands End" and end up at the top at "John O'Groats". Covering up to 1000 miles in between.

So.. I thought that sounded like fun??!!

So at the moment the plans are underway to head off in the next couple of weeks, on my own, and hopefully get from the bottom to the top.
